NEISA Sailors of the Week, Weekend 8, Fall 2017

***Ingram and Shaffeeullah are the NEISA Sailors of the Week***

Cambridge, MA—2 November 2017- Ty Ingram ’18 and Sameena Shaffeeu;lah ’19 are the NEISA Sailors of the Week.  They won the first A division race at the Schell Trophy and never looked back.  The duo bested a very strong A-division field at the NEISA Fall District Champs, leading their team to the overall victory as well.  Ingram and Shaffeeulah won six of the eighteen races and had only one race out of the top 10.

***DeSilva and Alfond are the NEISA Women’s Sailors of the Week***

Cambridge, MA—2 November 2017-Sarah DeSilva ’19 and Katherine Alfond ’19 of Northeastern University are the NEISA Women’s Sailors of the Week.  The Northeastern pair finished 2nd in B division, leading the Huskies to a 7th place overall finish at the NEISA Women’s Fall Championship.  This performance qualified Northeastern for its first ever Women’s Atlantic Coast Championship.  Points were tight throughout the event, with five teams vying for the final 3 qualifying spots going into the final races of the event.  Cool under pressure, the team of DeSilva and Alfond won the last race, securing their team a qualifying spot.

Around the Conference

MIT, Roger Williams, Yale, Boston University, Dartmouth, Tufts, and Brown all qualified for the Atlantic Coast Championship hosted by NY Maritime November 11-12.  Yale, Boston College, Coast Guard Academy, Dartmouth, Brown, MIT, Northeastern, and Connecticut College all qualified for the Women’s Atlantic Coast Championship hosted by Connecticut College November 11-12.  BU finished 3rd at the Nickerson Trophy.  Mass Maritime won the NE Dinghy Tournament.
