NEISA Sailors of the Week, Weekend 7, Fall 2024

Savin Hill, MA – 10/20/24 – The Dartmouth College Big Green Chase Decker ’28 and Phoebe Lee ’26 are the NEISA Open Sailors of the Week. Their B Division win at the Open Atlantic Coast Championships led the Big Green to second place overall at the event, just 4 points behind the Stanford Cardinal and 3 points ahead of the Tulane Green Wave. Unseasonably warm weather brought very light winds below 8 knots through the weekend and only 7 races were sailed in each division to round out the event. The duo prevailed in the challenging light and variable conditions to win the division, just one point ahead of second place. They finished in the top 4 in 4 of the seven races sailed.

New Haven, CT – 10/20/24 – For the third consecutive week, the Yale Bulldogs dominated New England Women’s Sailing. Emma Cowles ’25 and Jessi Avila-Shah ’25 are this week’s NEISA Women’s Sailors of the week for their standout performance at home at the Yale Women’s Interconference. Cowles and Avila-Shah won an impressive 7 of the 13 races sailed, and finished outside of the top five in only 2 races. The duo handily won A division with a 23-point lead over second place. Their performance helped Yale to the overall win at the event over second place Dartmouth.
