Providence, RI – 9/22/24 – The University of Rhode Island’s Kerem Erkmen ‘25 and Abbie Chipps ‘25 have been named the NEISA Open Sailors of the Week for winning A Division at the Sherman Hoyt Trophy. They showed excellence and consistency through the weekend’s pattern of storm systems, with 3 divisional wins and only one double digit finish, a 10th, which put them at the top of the very competitive A division fleet. Erkmen and Chips’ performance propelled the Rams to a 4th place overall finish at the event.
Enfield, NH – 9/22/24 – MIT Engineers Lucy Brock ‘25 and Mercedes Escandon ‘25 have been named the NEISA Women’s Sailors of the Week. Their performance in clenching the B Division at the 26th Mrs. Hurst Bowl at Dartmouth secured an overall win for the MIT team. The two held a low average throughout the entire weekend and closed a 4-point gap in the final race to move the MIT team into 1st place over Yale. It ended a steady climb to the top over the course of the day Sunday.
