NEISA Sailors of the Week, Weekend 10, Spring 2019


Haig, McGoldrick and Caso are NEISA Women’s Sailors of the Week

New London, CT - 4/10/19 – Dana Haig ’22, Brooke McGoldrick ’20 and Sarah Caso ’19 are the NEISA Women’s Sailors of the week for their performance at the Emily Wick Trophy, Haig, McGoldrick, and Caso won B-Division helping the MIT Engineers claim first place. The trio had ten top-five scores in 14 races in challenging conditions. 

 

Kaplan, Filter, Stafford, Lindgren, Bergsund, Gonzalez, and Adams are NEISA Coed Sailors of the Week

New London, CT – 4/10/19 – Matthew Kaplan ’19, Christian Filter ’20, Matt Stafford ’20, Louisa Lindgren ’19, Marie Bergsund ’20, Emily Gonzalez ’20 and Julia Adams ’21 are the NEISA Coed Sailors of the Week. The Bowdoin College sailors led the Polar Bears to a fourth-place finish at Fowle Trophy, earning the program’s first berth at the ICSA Laser Performance Team Race National Championship. The Polar Bears finished with 11 wins in one of the closest Fowle Trophy in years. 

 

Around the district – At the Fowle Trophy, women skippers made up 5 of the 22 skippers in the top 7. Yale won the Fowle trophy with Boston College, Dartmouth College, and Bowdoin College finishing in the top 4, earning a place at the ICSA Laser Performance Team Race National Championship. MIT won the Emily Wick Trophy with Brown University and Harvard University rounding out the top three. At the New England Dinghy Tournament Massachusetts Maritime Academy won with Maine Maritime Academy in second; earning berths to the Coast Guard Alumni Bowl in two weeks at Bowdoin. URI won the J-70 Open and Southern 5 while Tufts won the Tyrell Trophy. Salver Regina won the Salve Alymers and Yale won the Mystic Lake Team Race Invitational.
