NEISA Sailors of the Week, Fall 2023, Weekend 6


Branford, CT – 10/15/23 – Michaela O’Brien ’24 and Sara Schumann ’25 from the Boston College Eagles are the NEISA Women’s Sailors of the Week following their successful weekend at the Women’s Atlantic Coast Championship host by Yale University. O’Brien and Schumann finished with 43 points, which earned them second place in B-division and 34 points ahead of third place. The duo finished in the top four in ten of the twelve races sailed, winning four of those races. Their performance led the Eagles to second place overall and the top NEISA team at the Women’s Atlantic Coast Championships.

 

Marblehead, MA – 10/15/23 – The NEISA Open Sailors of the Week are the Brown University Bears Match Race team following their Conference Championship win this weekend at Corinthian Yacht Club. Liam O’Keefe ’26 drove with crew Charlotte Costikyan ’24, Cam Spriggs ’27, and Guthrie Braun ’26. The Brown Bears went 4-3 in the round robin, putting them in the fourth place seed for the knockouts. They met the Boston College Eagles in the quarterfinals where they went 1-1 forcing a third race, which Brown was able to claim the win in. They went 2-0 against Yale in the semi-finals, earning them a spot in the finals against the United States Coast Guard Academy. Brown won the first race, but dropped the second race to Coast Guard. Ultimately, Brown was able to win the next two races and claim the Championship and an automatic berth to Match Race Nationals which will be held in Charleston, SC on November 4-5.
