NEISA Sailor of the Week, Fall 2023, Weekend 2

Providence, RI - 9/17/23 - This week both our Open and Women's NEISA Sailors of the Week are the singlehanded conference champions. Nicholas Reeser '25 from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy won the Monotype Trophy for the NEISA Open Singlehanded Championship, hosted by Brown University.  The 35-boat fleet showcased a super competitive field with extremely shifty and difficult racing. With a wide range of conditions from gusts in the high 20 knot range on Saturday, and marginal racing at times with winds between 2-12 knots on Sunday.  Reeser was by far the most consistent sailor in the fleet with six of his 11 races in the top 3 and only one double digit result.  He won the championship by an impressive 21 points and secured an automatic berth to the ICSA Open Singlehanded National Championship, November 11-12, at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA.

The Brown Bears Katharine Doble '26 is our NEISA Women's Singlehanded champion and this week's Women's Sailor of the Week. The sophomore finished in the top 3 in seven of the ten races, including three first place finishes in the competitive 10-boat fleet.  Her six point victory solidified her berth to the ICSA Women's Singlehanded National Championship, November 11-12, at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA.
