New London, CT – 10/8/2023 - Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Brooke Schmelz '25, Samantha Karlson '25 and Mercedes Escandon '25 have been named NEISA Women’s Sailors of the Week. The trio sailed A-Division for the Engineers at the Stu Nelson, hosted by Connecticut College. Over the 12 race series they were able to maintain a scoreline of entirely single digit finishes, with 8 of the 12 being a 1st or 2nd place. This performance had them tied for 1st in division, 23 points ahead of 3rd place, and led MIT to a 4th place overall finish at the event.
Cambridge, MA – 10/8/2023 - Harvard University's Lachlain McGranahan '24, Marbella Marlo '24, and Matthew Cabot '24 have been named NEISA Open Sailors of the Week. The three were able to lead the Harvard Crimson to both a divisional and overall win on their home turf at the Atlantic Coast Championship Round 1B, handily securing their berth in the finals. Their A-Division win was marked with 10 of the 14 races having finished in the top 4, and while the University of Rhode Island was hot on their heels, there was a 41 point gap to the 3rd place team fielded by the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
