NEWPORT, R.I. (June 4, 2015) – At an awards ceremony following racing for the Gill Coed National Championship at the Sail Newport Waterfront Center at Fort Adams and New York Yacht Club, the honors for the Marlow Ropes College Sailor of the Year, Robert H. Hobbs Sportsmanship Award and the Leonard M. Fowle Trophy for the Best Overall Team were presented. The names of the winners will be added to the ICSA Hall of Fame display located in the Robert Crown Center at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.

NEWPORT, R.I. (June 4, 2015) – Today was the last day of the Gill Coed Dinghy National Championship, co-hosted by Brown University, Salve Regina University and New York Yacht Club. This is the last of three high caliber spring college sailing national championships that were run out of the Sail Newport Waterfront Center at Fort Adams. After four days of intense competition Yale University has won the national title and the Henry A. Morss Memorial Trophy.

NEWPORT, R.I. (June 3, 2015) – The Gill Coed Dinghy National Championship continued today co-hosted by Brown University, Salve Regina University and New York Yacht Club. The teams sail out of the Sail Newport Waterfront Center at Fort Adams and compete on Narragansett Bay. The top eighteen collegiate teams in the nation advanced from the previous two days of racing in the semi-finals to make it to the finals event, which began today.

GILL COED NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI-FINALS, DAY TWO
NEWPORT, R.I. (June 2, 2015) – Today was the second and final day of the semi-finals for the Gill Coed National Championship, co-hosted by Brown University, Salve Regina University and New York Yacht Club. The top 36 college sailing teams in the nation have been sailing out of the Sail Newport Waterfront Center at Fort Adams, competing on Narragansett Bay, for 18 spots in the championship finals, which begin tomorrow, Wednesday, June 3rd. The 36 teams are divided into two fleets of 18 teams, eastern and western semi-final groups, the top nine from each fleet will make up the 18 teams who compete in the finals.

THE INTER-COLLEGIATE SAILING ASSOCIATION INDUCTS SWIKART, MORIN, WERBLOW, WILLIAMSON AND MIGLIACCIO INTO COLLEGE SAILING HALL OF FAME
NEWPORT, R.I. (June 1, 2015) – The Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) recently honored five individuals for their contributions to the sport of college sailing by inducting them into the ICSA Hall of Fame. Jack Swikart (Rumson, N.J.) was recognized with the James Rousmaniere Award for student leadership; Capt. Richard Morin, USN, Ret. (Annapolis, Md.) was honored with the Lifetime Service Award; Adam Werblow (St. Mary’s City, Md.) was awarded the Graham Hall Award for Outstanding Service by a college sailing professional; and Charles Harvey Kaye Williamson (Ithaca, NY.) and Robert A. Migliaccio (Barrington, R.I.) were awarded Outstanding Service by a volunteer.
The Hall of Fame was established in 1969 to honor individuals for either undergraduate competitive achievement in sailing or outstanding leadership and service to the establishment, development and growth of the sport. The names of the inductees will be added to the ICSA College Sailing Hall of Fame, which is on permanent display in the Robert Crown Center at the U.S. Naval Academy (Annapolis, Md.).
Each of the honorees is being recognized throughout the Spring 2015 ICSA National Championships taking place now in Newport, R.I.

The top 36 collegiate sailing teams in the nation reported to the regatta venue at Sail Newport and New York Yacht Club on Narragansett Bay to compete for 18 spots in the championship finals, which will begin on Wednesday, June 3rd.

YALE UNIVERSITY WINS LASERPERFORMANCE TEAM RACE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
NEWPORT, R.I. (May 31, 2015) – Today was the third and final day of the LaserPerformance Team Race National Championship on Narragansett Bay. This event is the second of three collegiate sailing national championships co-hosted by Brown University, Salve Regina University and New York Yacht Club this spring. After three days of racing Yale University is the national champion and winner of the Walter C. Wood Trophy for the third year in a row.

The top sixteen collegiate team racing teams in the nation are vying for the national title and the Walter C. Wood Trophy.

LASER PERFORMANCE TEAM RACE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP DAY ONE

(May 29, 2015) – Today was the first day of racing for the LaserPerformance Team Race National Championship on Narragansett Bay co-hosted by Brown University, Salve Regina University and New York Yacht Club. Sixteen collegiate teams from across the nation qualified to compete in this event for the national title and the Walter C. Wood Trophy, awarded to the winning team.
