Toppa, Carrington, Dale Earn Cougar Sweep of SAISA Sailors of the Week
It's a Cougars' sweep for SAISA Sailors of the Week in week 7 of the fall sailing season as the South Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association recognizes co-ed sailor Augie Dale of the College of Charleston for his outstanding performance at the Fiske-Harriman-Sleigh Trophy Coed Showcase Regatta hosted by St. Mary's College of Maryland. With a strong start in blustery conditions, Dale and crews Katherine Lounsbury, Carter Cameron, and Oliver Parsons held the A-division lead for all but three races and won the division overall by 7 points over the Polar Bears of Bowdoin College. Dale finished 8 of the regatta's 18 races with a first place bullet. Dale and crew's win in A-fleet helped the College of Charleston Cougars secure an overall 7th place finish for the last of the fall season's Showcase regattas.

RALEIGH, N.C., OCTOBER 17, 2018 – The South Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association recognizes co-ed sailors Cameron Douglas and Camryn Kennedy of Eckerd College for their outstanding performance at SAISA South Points #4 in St. Petersburg, Florida. Douglas, captain of the Eckerd College Tritons and Kennedy worked hard to make the best of light conditions and delivered a wire-to-wire A-fleet division win for the home team. Together with a Tritons' second-place finish in B-fleet, the pair secured the regatta win and vaulted the Tritons over both Jacksonville and Miami for the top spot in SAISA South.
In women's sailing, Clemson University sailors Jenn Casey and Hannah Oswalt won the B-fleet division at SAISA North Points #4 hosted by Georgia Tech on Lake Lanier. With three race wins and no finishes greater than 2nd for the entire event, Casey and Oswalt delivered the low-score for any pairing in either division and contributed to the wire-to-wire regatta win for the Tigers. With the solid finish and regatta win, Clemson earned 2nd overall place in SAISA North for the fall season and qualified for SAISA Conference Championships.
The Brown Bears won the first annual College Sailing Women's Showcase Final held at Brown. The home team sailed from behind to pass Yale University in the waning stages of the regatta. Yale built an early lead due to a hot start by Christine Klingler ‘20 with Kira Woods ‘19 and Catherine Mollerus ‘21. Klingler and company had no double digit finishes through the first 10 races sailed in B-Division, posting only 3 races outside the top-5. In a regatta designed to be 18 teams deep, such a streak cannot be overstated and Yale found themselves up by 20 points on Brown with only 8 races remaining.
