Sailors of the Week, Weekend 2, Fall 2015


***Fanning and Turley are the NEISA COED SAILORS OF THE WEEK***

Branford, Ct—9/15/15-Avery Fanning ’16 and Robert Turley ’15 of the US Coast Guard Academy are the NEISA Sailors of the Week for winning A-division at the Harry Anderson Trophy.  The duo won four of the fifteen races sailed and finished all but one race in the top 8.  Coast Guard also won B-division at the regatta and finished thirty-five points ahead of the second place team.

***Lesh and Zhang are the NEISA WOMEN’S SAILORS OF THE WEEK***

Cambridge, MA—9/15/15-Robyn Lesh ’16 and Elizabeth Zhang ’16 are the NEISA Women’s Sailors of the Week for winning A-division at the Toni Deutsch Regatta.  The A-division Beavers won three of the fifteen races sailed and had all top ten finishes.  Lesh and Zhang led MIT to a fourth place overall finish.

Around the Conference

The opening weekend for NEISA was a busy one.  Harvard won the Central Series hosted by Tufts.  Vermont won the Penobscot Bay Open.  Bowdoin won the Toni Deutsch Regatta at MIT and the Harvard Invite.  Roger Williams won their home event at the Mt. Hope Invite.  Dartmouth won the Pine Trophy and Tufts won the Harman Cup.  Congrats to Dartmouth, Yale, Brown, Harvard, Tufts, URI, Bowdoin, and BU for qualifying for the Match Race New England Championship hosted by Salve Regina October 17-18.
